These rattan purses or “baskets” are also known as “Ata” bags. They are hand woven. During the process for the rattan fibers to become sturdy and moisture resistant, they use a smoked process which requires the bags to be put over coconut husks. This process is what creates their golden and bright color. This natural acquired smell will eventually go away. Also, you can use a good scent spray to dissipate the smoke smell.
Bag dimensions are 9.45″H x 7.85″W x 4.70″. Leather straps are adjustable 49″ to 51″.
The inside lining is made with a colorful batik cotton fabric. Each bag pattern is beautifully different.
